US: Donald Trump agrees to debate with Kamala Harris, outlines specific rules

In the lead-up to the U.S. presidential elections, former President Donald Trump, the Republican candidate, agreed to debate Vice President Kamala Harris, setting specific conditions for the event.

Trump announced on the social media platform Truth, "I have reached an agreement with the Democrats for a debate with Kamala Harris. It will be broadcast live on ABC News, which I consider the most biased and unfair broadcaster, on Tuesday, September 10th, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania."

This announcement follows Trump's hint over the weekend that he might cancel the debate due to disagreements over the rules.

On Truth Social, Trump stated that he and Harris agreed to adhere to the same rules as his previous debate with President Joe Biden on CNN, which included no live audience and muted microphones when not speaking.

"The rules will be the same as the last CNN debate. The debate will be a 'stand-up' format, and candidates cannot bring notes or 'cheat sheets.' ABC has assured us that the debate will be fair and equitable, and that questions will not be provided in advance," Trump said.

He also mentioned that the Democrats have not agreed to a third debate. "Harris would not agree to the Fox News debate on September 4th, but we are keeping the date open in case she changes her mind. A potential third debate on NBC News has not been agreed upon by the Democrats. GOD BLESS AMERICA!"

It is noteworthy that Biden's performance in the June CNN debate with Trump was a factor in his decision to withdraw from the presidential race.
